Who we are
Starlinguide is operated by an individual, not a company, based in Vietnam. This person is the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
- Operator: Starlinguide AI
- Address: Vietnam
- Contact for privacy matters: starlinguide@gmail.com
What we collect
Account
Your email address and a hash of your password. We never store your password itself. If your account was created through a sign-in provider, we store the identifier that provider gives us.
Configuration
The configs you save: role context, background you choose to provide, and your model preferences.
Interview transcripts and answers
When you run a session, we store the transcript of that session and the answers generated from it, and associate them with your account. The transcript includes speech by other people on the call, not only your own. This is the most sensitive category of data we hold, and section 4 explains the responsibility that comes with it.
Billing
Payments are processed by Paddle. We receive the subscription status and the details Paddle reports back to us. We never receive or store your card number.
Download telemetry
When you download a desktop build, we record the event with a hashed IP address, your user agent string and a country derived from the request. We use this to know which builds are in use. It is not linked to your account.
What we do not store
- Raw audio. Audio is streamed to our speech-to-text provider for transcription and is not written to storage by us.
- Screen captures. An image used for a screen-aware answer is sent for that answer only and is not retained.
We use Google Analytics to understand traffic to this website. It sets cookies (such as _ga and _gid) in your browser and records the pages you visit, your approximate location, and the device you used. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share this data for advertising. Aside from the sign-in cookie and Google Analytics, we set no other cookies.
Speech by other people
A transcript of an interview contains the words of the person interviewing you. They are not our user, and they have not agreed to anything with us. We process their speech only because you asked us to, and only to provide the service to you.
You are responsible for having the legal right to record and transcribe the people on your call. That right varies significantly between countries, and some jurisdictions require every participant to consent. Employers, proctors and exam bodies may forbid it regardless of local law. Before you run a session, this is your obligation to check, not ours. The Terms of Service state this as a warranty you give us.
If someone whose speech appears in a transcript contacts us, we will need your cooperation to identify and remove the relevant material. Deleting a transcript you no longer need is the simplest way to avoid the situation.
Sub-processors
We rely on the following third parties to provide the service. Each processes data on our behalf, under its own terms:
- Soniox — speech-to-text. Receives call audio in real time for transcription.
- Claude, ChatGPT, Grok and others AI providers — generates answers. Receives the transcript and your role context, and screen captures when you use a screen-aware answer.
- LemonSqueezy, Paddle, Polar — payments, as Merchant of Record. Receives your billing details directly.
- Cloudflare — stores the data described in this policy.
- Google Analytics — website traffic analytics. Receives the pages you visit, your approximate location, and device information via cookies.
Retention and deletion
Transcripts and answers are kept until you delete them. You can remove a single session or clear your entire history from your account, without contacting us. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
If you close your account, we delete the account and its associated data, other than records we are required to retain for tax or accounting purposes, which are held by Paddle as Merchant of Record.
Your rights
Under Decree 13/2023/ND-CP on personal data protection, and comparable laws that may apply to you, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate.
- Delete your data, which for transcripts you can do yourself at any time.
- Withdraw consent to processing, though this means we can no longer provide the service.
- Complain to the competent authority if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully.
To exercise a right that is not self-serve, contact starlinguide@gmail.com. We will respond within the period the applicable law requires.
Cross-border transfer
Our sub-processors operate outside Vietnam, so providing the service necessarily transfers your data abroad, including your transcripts. By using Starlinguide you accept that this transfer takes place.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as hashes. Access to production data is limited to the operator. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not.
Children
Starlinguide is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, we will note it here and update the date below. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the revised policy.
